Update, 5th May 2008:
After delivering a load of batteries to the United Downs recycling unit from the Portscatho collection (35kg), added to the recent delivery from Mylor (12kg), this brings the total of recycled batteries to date to a whopping 47kg (article)!
The trend continues...
After the wave of publicity in February 2008 surrounding the first local battery recycling centre I set up - in Portscatho, Cornwall (article) -Sarah Newton (Truro & Falmouth Conservative Parliamentary Candidate) contacted me, expressing an interest to do the same in her own village. Now, one month after the first, we have opened our second battery recycling centre in the Post Office in the village of Mylor, Cornwall (article).
I have also been contacted by other interested parties who want to make a difference in Cornwall and am currently in negotiations with a prominent business with a view to sponsoring a number of these collection tubes in other local communities.
So, if this is something you would consider supporting in your area, I would be pleased to hear from you... whether in Cornwall, or further afield.
Please send me an email info@(this domain name) and we can start the process of making your community 'battery friendly'!
